ReadIRIS 12 Pro may be simple, but it is a pretty good basic OCR tool for most purposes. One of the most useful features of ReadIRIS is file compression, which allows you to OCR a document and reduce file size using the same program. File compression makes ReadIRIS an attractive option for users who work with large files on a regular basis, and this includes many people, since scanned files often take up a great deal of space. ReadIRIS supports most Western fonts, and can output files in different formats, including, DOC, HTML, and PDF, giving users some flexibility.
However, keep in mind that if your goal is to maximize recognition accuracy, then this program might not be your best choice. ReadIRIS is good, but not excellent. Software tests have shown that some other professional tools, such as Maestro Recognition Server and OmniPage, outperform ReadIRIS in accuracy. ReadIRIS has a good set of advanced features to deal with noise in the scanned image, but these do not fully eliminate recognition errors.
